CAR OVERTURNS

ON TE AWAMUTU-CAMBRIDGE HIGHWAY. THREE PASSENGERS INJURED. Word was received in Te Awamutu on Wednesday afternoon, per telephone from Hairini, to the effect that a bad smash had occurred on the Te Awamutu-Cambridge road, near the bridge over the Mangapiko Stream about five miles from Te Awamutu, a car having failed to negotiate the bend in the road near the bridge, and overturned, the occupants sustaining severe injuries. Dr Blundell hurried out to the scene and rendered firstaid, after which the people concerned were brought into Te Awamutu for further attention.

It appears that the car, a five-seater sedan car, was being driven by a nephew of the owner, Mr F. Parsons, of Paterangi Road, and with him were Mrs Parsons, her mother (Mrs Martin, Senr.), and a small child. Both ladies and the boy sustained cuts about the face and hands, and Mrs Martin sprained her wrist. They are now progressing satisfactorily toward recovery, though suffering somewhat from shock. The car was considerably damaged.
