AT THEIR OWN RISK
PEOPLE GOING TO HASTINGS.
HASTINGS, Friday.
Despite warnings published in the press following the earthquake people came to Hastings with the idea of obtaining work and many are now at the end of their resources and on the verge "of destitution. Hastings has 600 unemployed of its own. In view of that fact the welfare committee has decided that strangers coming here destitute are ineligible for assistance from local funds, and that strangers who do not possess adequate resources come to the district at their own risk.
