WAIPA COMPETITIONS.

LAST SATURDAY'S GAMES. The Waipa Cricket Association's championship competition was continued a further stage last Saturday, when Te Awamutu' played Puahue, High School played Rukuhia, Kaipaki A played Te Kawa, and Otorohanga played Kaipaki B. . The weather conditions were favourable, and some interesting play eventuated, it being noticeable that the bowlers had the best of the argument in some of the matches. PUAHUE V TE AWAMUTU. In this match, played at headquarters, Puahue batted first and were all disposed of for 80 runs, Barnett being particularly effective with the ball. The top scorer was W. M. Wl £ ter with 20 runs, and next were J. Ball and Taylor, each with 12. T , a yl° r > a newcomer, hit three fours and then Barnett caught and bowled him. RUKUHIA V. HIGH SCHOOL. The High School team journeyed to Rukuhia, and suffered defeat at the hands of the home team by 25 runs after an interesting game The visitors batted first and put on 94, of which N. F. Oram was the chief contributor with 48, including one six and four fours. Only two others got into double figures, W. Main finishing up with six wickets to his credit for 18 runs. Orr got three for 41. The home team opened with Gorrie and Derecourt, but the latter was dismissed before a run was scored. Then Harrop and Gorrie put on 50 before the partnership was broken. Harrop hit up 24 before Shaw clean bowled him, and Gorrie's contribution was 19. The "tail" wagged a bit, for A. Main scored 12 and Ryman 14 (not out). Shaw captured seven wickets for 40.
