FARMER IN POOR HEALTH.
>y Telegraph. Press Association.) HAMILTON, Monday.
Something of a sensation was caused in Ngaruawahia this morning when it was learned that one of the best known residents, Mr Daniel McKeown, had been found dead on his farm with a shotgun beside him. Mr McKeown, who was about 40 years of age, was born and lived all his life in the district.
The property, on which Mr McKeown milked 50 cows, is about halfway between Horotiu and Ngaruawahia, adjoining the racecourse and golf course. The golf house is on his farm. He was a member of the Golf Club, Race Club and Regatta Club, and was interested in all local activities. His wife, who is well known, keeps a nursing home in Ngaruawahia.
Mr McKeown had been in indifferent health for some time and this had worried him. The tragic discovery was made by Dr Isdale, who was on a visit to the farm to interview Mr McKeown.
