TRINITY COLLEGE
PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES. The practical examinations of the Trinity College of Music, London, held this week at Hamilton, were completed on Wednesday. Dr Borland, the College's examiner for the North Island, examined 102 candidates and of these 80 were successful. The Centre Gold Medal for Licentiate is awarded to Mr Albert W. Bryant, and the Centre Gold Medal for Associate is awarded to Miss Mabel Weatherley. Subject to the age qualification the other Centre Medals are awarded as follows: — Senior: Ngaire Alexander (Miss J. McGettigan, Otorohanga). Preparatory: June Luxmore (Otorohanga). There was no award in the Higher Local Division, as the entries in this division did not total the number required by the medal rules. Other, passes of local interest are as follows: — Senior piano: Bessie Budden (Convent), John Evans (Otorohanga), Maureen Kay (Miss Barnett). Intermediate piano: M. Grace (Convent), C. Wellington (Convent), L. Dalziel (Otorohanga). Junior piano: A. Manson (Convent) and M. Smith (Convent), Winnie Corcoran (Otorohanga), Jean Sutherland (Miss Barnett). Preparatory piano: J. Wood (Convent), P. D. Henderson (Miss G. Thomson, Te Kawa). First steps, piano: Imelda McGovern (Convent), Estelle Smith (Convent), Mildred Ellis (Otorohanga), Noeline Gibson (Miss Barnett). "" Ngaire Alexander has, we learn, been conspicuously successful at these examinations, having gained the medal for the third year in succession, as well as an exhibition prize. She is only 14 years of age.
