BRIDEGROOM'S LOSS

FIRE DESTROYS FURNITURE. WHANGAREI, Friday. Fire at 1 a.m. to-day destroyed a house in Whau Valley, which Mr C. Hoey had furnished preparatory to his marriage. Mr Hoey intended to live in the house after his marriage next week, and had placed nearly all his furniture in the building. Neighbours saw the glare from the flames and assembled on the spot, but the dwelling was then burning so fiercely that it was considered useless to call the brigade. Demolition was complete. The house, which was owned by Mr M. Sinclair, of Kamo, was insured for £525, but there was no insurance on the furniture.
