FILMS IN SCHOOLS
EDUCATIONAL PICTURES FOR AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND, This Day.
The possibility of screening educational and instructive films at schools is to be investigated by the Auckland Education Board.
Mr L. G. Hill, managing director of the Educational Film Service, Wellington, wrote to the board yesterday stating he had secured a permit for the use of a poi'table cinematograph to enable the screening of films in school buildings or halls. Stating the Wellington and Canterbury Education Boards had granted permission to show films in their districts, he sought the Auckland board's approval of such an arrangement in the Auckland district. The chairman, Mr A. Burns, said an offer had also been received from a local firm which had a machine capable of being operated at a very small cost. It was decided to refer Mr Hill's letter to the executive committee, which is also to witness a demonstration of the local machine.
