FIRE AT DARGAVILLE
DRAPERY SHOP GUTTED. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, This Day. Fire, at about 1.30 this morning, badly gutted a shop occupied by Mate Peko. draper and clothier, and l the tobacconist and billiard saloon at the rear of these premises escaped'injury, but the stock in the shop, with the exception of the windows is practically a total loss. The fire« had v a good hold when discovered and the brigade made a good save. The owner, who had been stocktaking, left the premises at 9.30 p.m." and cannot account for the outbreak. The nremises were owned by Mr J. C. Griffiths, of Auckland. Insurances are held in the New Zealand Office, but the amount is not available. Peko's loss is a heavy one but the building is not much damaged.
