A very pleasant churcii social was held in the ;School on Wedne'sday evening. • The Rev. jG. T. Robson gave an 'interesting address on church matters in general. Mr Swarbrick then briefly traced the 'progress and expansion of the parish and the financial aspct. A duet by M'rs Algie and Miss Empson 'drew forth a loud caM of "encore" and to save repetition let me state that all the items were eagerly encored. Songs were sung by Misses Savill and Dunldey and Messrs Robson and Swarbrick. Mr G. Lorimer in appropriate terms thanked the visitors for their company ar.li the splendid entertainment. The Rev. Robson and his colleagues were responsible for the whole programme and it was a credit to them and a treat to the local who turned out irrespective of creed. Community singing and dancing were also features in the evening's entertainment. The following committee were electe/d: — Messrs S. Sifleet, W. Al'lcock, Anderson, W. Thompson an:J G.
