DAIRY SKIMMINGS

From the results of numerous feeding trials which have been conducted, the following feeding formula has been developed. In practice it has given very satisfactory results:

1. —Under normal circumstances the cow should he fed all the hay, silage, or roughage that she. will eat up clean. 12.- —The grain or concentrate ration should be adjusted to the milk production.

3. —The grain or concentrates should be fed in the proportion of lib. to each 31bs. of milk produced, except in the case of cows giving over 4 gallons, in which case lib. of grain should, be given for each 41bs. of milk. A better plan is to give lib. of concentrates each day for every pound of butterfat that the cow produces during the week. 4. —Feed all that the cow will respond to in milk production. If sine begins to put on flesh, cut down the grain ration.

BENEFITS OF HOME-GROWN FOODS Maximum milk production. The provision of a variety of foods. Balanced rations are fed to the cows. Cows are maintained in good condition throughout the year. Regular flow of milk especially when prices are high. It generally costs cheaper to grow crops than to purchase feeding stuffs of a similar analysis. Milk is produced more economically. The fertility of the soil is maintained. CHURNS AND CHURNING. An absolutely clean churn is the first consideration in butter production.
