GISBORNE TRAM SERVICE
BOROUGH COUNCIL’S DECISION. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) GISBORNE, Wednesday. The question of discontinuing the Gisborne municipal trams was further considered at a special meeting of the Borough Council last night, when the report by the local accountants confirming heavy losses was considered. After lengthy discussion the followingmotion was carried: —“That the council, being of opinion that the tramway system is being run at a loss disproportionate with the service rendered, steps be taken forthwith to bring about discontinuance of the system, and that notice of the council’s intention to apply to the Governor-General for ■an authorising order revoking existing license be advertised.”
