FIGHTERS FINED

AFIFRAY IN’A BILLIARD ROOM. A A bout of fisticuffs,, that took place in the De Luxe billiard saloon a few evenings ago was responsible for the appearance before (Messrs ‘S. H. Dunkley and W. C. Savill, justices, on Wednesday morning of the two gladiators, P. Bloxham and James Quinn. It appeared from the statement of the case .that Quinn, with two brothers anda friend, -entered the saloon to play a game of billiards or (snooker, but became at variance with the marker who was in charge during the temporary absence of the licensee (Mr W. McCarthy). There was talk of fighting the marker, when Bloxham, who was engaged at another table, called out<_ “ Don’t let them hit the njarker, Jim.’”' James Quinn objected to Bloxham’s alleged interference, and, they soon came to blows, and some blood was spilt. ‘However, they were separated, and the police apprehended Quinn; later he was released. Yesterday both Bloxham and James Quinn admitted the charge, and were each fined 10s and costs. Leslie and Mortimer Quinn, much later in the evening, when outside the saloon, indulged in obscene language; for this they were each fined, £3 and costs.
