THE LIMITED EXPRESS
STOP AT TE KUITI. The Te Kuiti Borough Council received a letter last Monday from the Railway Department, advising that the Council's request that the Limited express for Auckland be stopepd at Te Kuiti was still receiving consideration. According to the Chronicle, the Mayor said that from information he had received the matter was not yet decided, and he thought the Prime Minister personally wa s doing his best to get the train stopped. Cr Cochrane stressed the importance of having the Limited stopped. The suggestion made by the Department to the Chamber of Commerce that the evening train from Te Kuiti to Frankton be run to connect with the 8.30 train from Frankton to Auckland Avould not meet the requirements of the district at all. Because it was an off day, many business meetings in Aucklff'ad were held on Monday afternoon. To attend them it was necessary to go up on Saturday night, whereas if the Limited was stopped, one could travel on Monday morning. Moreover, on the 6.15 p.m. train to Frankton travelling was most bitterly cold, as thee was neither steam heating no r foot warmers. It was decided to reply to the Minister again urging that the express be stepped at Te Kuiti.
