The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu District High School Committee was held in the secretary's office on Tuesday evening, when there twiere present Messrs G. S. Clarke Ichairman), A. G. Weatherell, C. W. fkickit, R. "Ross, G. F. Smith, R. I. and the secretary, Mr G. O. Jourjaain. ' The headmaster. Mr J. F. Roberts, was also in attendance. An apology for-absence was received from Mr J. F. Brooks. The supervisor,, technical branch of Auckland Education, Board, asked if the committee was still desirous of ithe property at the technical school, Te Awamutu, being withheld from leasing. Two applicants for leasing wanted the property for a term.—lt was decided to recommend that the grazing rights be let for a term, at an upset price of 10s per week. The secretary reported that the dental nurse, Miss iLoach, had recently visited Hairini, Puahue and Kihikihi, and during the present week it had been arranged that she visit Pokuru and Te Mawhai schools. The subcommittee had been working in cooperation with the dental nurse, and the country committees had been arranging transport. Mr Clarke mentioned that the Kawa West School Committee desired to enlist, the services of the dental nurse, but as there was such a small roll number it was doubtful whether the nurse would visit that school. Perhaps arrangements could be made for the children there to be brought by car to Pokuru for the inspection. •Only one tender was received for the school cleaning, but as the price asked was beyond the resources of the committee it was decided to invite fresh applications for the position at £9O per annum, if the original applicant will not accept the position at that figure. Mr V. L. Gittos, woodwork instructor, manual and technical branch, wrote that he would be glad to cooperate in any action the committee deemed desirable in respect to the administration of the local technical school.

It was decided to ask the Board to send an inspector to investigate the question of the administration of the local technical school. The chairman reported in connection with the proposal to increase the tennis courts at the main school, that he had been inquiring prices of material. To prepare two more courts would cost £3l on the basis of 40 yards of material. —It was decided to proceed with the work at the prices quoted. Mr Roberts said tennis nets are already available and the children's subscriptions would be available for the purchase of the necessary, tapes. The headmaster reported that the roll number for the quarter ended June 30th was 353, with an average of 311 in the primary department, and 51 and 47 in the secondary department The attendance had fallen very appreciably, due to the. prevalence of influenza and bad colds, which was almost epidemic. It was decided to again remind the Board that the architect has not yet inspected and reported on the tarring and sanding of portion of the playing irea at the main school. Mr Robertis reported that to date the school piano fund now stands at £ll''lßs 7d.

Donations of 30s ijrom Mr D. Bradley and 12s 6d from Mr J. F. Brooks were received towards the school piano fund.
