A VERY SLOW MARKET
Messrs Dalgety and Company report having received, the following cablegram. dated Ist instant, from their London house:
'Butter: The market is very slow. We quote: New Zealand, 'finest salted, 170 s per cwt; exceptional brands, 172 s per cwt. Danish. 170 s per cwt. Finest Australian, salted, 168 sto 170 s per cwt.
Cheese: The market is very slow. New Zealand coloured is quoted at 89s to 90s P e r cwt; white, 90s to 91s per cwt. Canadian, new season’s, white, SSs to 90s per cwt; coloured, S7s to 89s per cwt.

Mutton: New Zealand prime crossbred, Canterbury, heavy, 5Jd per lb; light, 6Jd per lb. North Island, heavy, 5d per lb; light, 6d per lb. The market is quiet and the demand moderate.
Beef: New Zealand, prime ox, hinds. 4£d per lb; fores. 3Jd per lb. The market is very quiet, with a poor de-
mand. v Australian frozen meat: Good average quality crossbred lamb, light. SJd per lb; heavy. 7ipl per lb. The market is weak and the demand poor. Good average quality Australian crossbre/l mutton, light. 4td per lb; heavy, not quoted. The market is quiet, and the' demand limited.
