KIHIKIHI NOTES

At the monthly meeting of the TOwn Board held on Monday, 28th June, the tender of Messrs Crook and Smith was accepted for concreting paths and frontage of Town Hall. A four-handed tournament was played on Monday evening, by members of the Cribbage Club, eight, games being played. Messrs E. James and ■E. Eyre tied, for the trophy and in the play-off Mr James was. the winner. Mr F. R. Moody donated the trophy. On Thursday evening Mr F. Smith, Home Missioner for the Presbyterian Church, was ordained before a large congregation, Rev. W. Butterworth, Moderator, conducted the service. Rev. A. Hardie (Paterangi), Rev. Kedgley (Otorohanga) and Mr J. Budge (Kio Kio) were also present and delivered addresses.

The second cribbage match in connection with the contest fof the challenge shield took place on Thursday evening between Puahue and Kihikihi. The results of the games are as follow, Kihikihi play/ers being mentioned first:—Rigg and Crook 6 v Park and Pretty 4; L. Eyra .and- Anderson 4 v Hastie and Morris 8; Dyer and Wilson 10 v Simson and Moisley, jun, 4; Maunder and Stewart 7 v Long and J. Hastie '5; James and Vernon 3 v 'Campbell and Deed 6; White and Ashby 3 v Dare and G. Long 5; 'Lopp and Lees 3 v Moisley, sen., and W. Hastie ■8; H. White and MdCormick 2 v Stratton and Ferguson 7; Haines and Thomson 4 v Holden and A. Hastie 7. Totals: Puahuje 54; Kihikilu 42.
