LADIES’ TOURNEY.

On. Thursday last a team from the Te Awamutu Ladies’ IHockey Club journeyed to Hamilton and, participated in the six-aside tournament, and were instrumental in winning three out of four matches played. The team was: Mrs H. White, Mrs T. Davis, Misses J. Ford. P. Gibson, E. Ball and H. ,Bevin. This is tile first occasion on which the Te Awamutu girls have taken part in a tournament, and thus much useful knowledge was gained, which should benefit the standard of the play generally. They were unfortunate in meeting the Hamilton Old Girls’ best team in tfieir first match, being defeated, by 2 goals to nil, but Were undefeated in the remaining three games. In all. six goals, were scored, Mrs White being responsible for five and Miss Ford 1. WARATAH DEFEAT UNITED. The game at Albert Park on Wednesday afternoon was between Waratalh- and United,, with Mr W. Hebden in control. -Soon after the start H. Andrew pcored for Waratah, and a few minutes later Bowler repeated, and H. Andrew again goaled before United scored. Just before half-time 'Sinclair registered a eoal for United. On resuming H. Andrew increased Wara-tah’-s tallv by one. to which R. Andrew replied with a goal for United. Then H. Andrew shot two more and R. Bell added a seventh, to which R. Andrew replied with a third for United. There was no further change in bhe scores, though the game was fast at times, with some really clever hitting and placing by members of eaoh team. On the day the beat team won, but the losers are looking forward to avenging the defeat when next they meet Waratah.
