WEDDING

PAULSEN—PARKINSON

A pretty wedding was solemnised at 'the residence of the bride’s parents, Pirongia West Road, Te Rau-a-Moa, on 22nd May, when Miss Gertrude Parkinson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J- G. Parkinson, was married to Mr Stanley Paulsen, eldest son tit Mr and Mrs Paulsen, of Glen Murray. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly gowned in a frock of ivory satin and silver la<~ with the customary veil and orange blossoms. Her sister, Miss Margaret Parkinson, attended as bridesmaid, wearing a pretty gown of turquoise blue georgette relieved with silver lace. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Zanna, while Mr A. Paulsen assisted his brother as best man. After the ceremony a large number of relatives and friends sat down to a dainty breakfast, and the usual toasts were honoured. Many beautiful and, valuable presents were received by Mr and Mrs 'Paulsen. The happy pair left by motor en route to Rotorua, where they will spend their honeymoon, the bride’s travelling dress being a cedar ensemble suit with hat to match.

A kitchen evening, at which there was a large attendance of friends, was tendered Miss Parkinson and Mr Paulsen at Wairenga shortly before the wedding. Prior to Miss Parkinson resigning from the Okarea-Wairenga school, at which she was teacher, the scholars made her a presentation af a mark of the esteem in which she was held by them.
