KAKEPUKU DAIRY CO.

WINS CHAMPIONSHIP HONOURS.

FOR CHEESE PRODUCTION,

Congratulations are due to the Kakepuku Co-op: Dairy Co. and i't s staff (especially Mr C. J. Dew, the manager) upon the success attained at the Waikato Winter Show this week, in winning the Auckland provincial championship for cheese making. Figures just announced show that Kakepuku topped the score with the high total of 95a points, Cambridge Co-op. Dairy Co.'s Monavale factory being second with 95 points, and Eureka third, with 941 points. Kakepuku’s win can perhaps be better appreciated when it is made clear that there were twenty entries, many of them winners and placegetters in other championship contests. It may he added that Kakepuku factory has been a consistent exhibitor in other years, and only a year ago managed to get second honours. So it will be seen that persistency and a steady improvement has at length yielded, the reward so pleasing to the heart of every factory manager or assistant. Of course, it may be added the factory manager alone is not entitled to the credit, for to secure such a fine record he must have had the co-operation of hi s staff, while both he and his staff must necessarily have been loyally backed up by the suppliers in sending to the factory clean fresh milk. Factory men all over the Dominion, when addressing meetings of dairymen, have repeatedly asked suppliers to take special precautions to ensure sending only high-quality cream or milk to the factory, and thus do 'their part towards making the very best butter or cheese.” It is evident that Mr Dew and his men have been supported by the suppliers, and the example set on this occasion will no doubt result in a higher general standard of grading throughout.
