MR HOCKLY HONOURED

RECEPTION AT WHAKATANE (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WHAKATANE. Friday. A public reception, given in the Grand Theatre last evening to Mr F. F. Hockly, M. P., was the most successful evening function ever held in Whakatane, quite 500 people attending from all over the district. The programme consisted of musical, vocal and dance items, with short speeches. Mr W. Sullivan (Mavor), and Mr W. Reid (chairman of the County Council), eulogised Hockly's services to the district and congratulated him in his victory in the recent election. Mr Hockly, who received an ovation with cheering and the singing of 'For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," returned thanks for the reception and to the electors for the huge majority accorded him at the recent poll. He foretold an era of prosperity, with a Government able to forge ahead with betterment legislation. He promised untiring efforts for the good of this electorate.
