THE WESTLAND SEAT. RETURNING OFFICER DECIDES FOR MR SEDDON. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Wednesday. The final voting in connection with the election for the Westland seat gave another dead, heat, one of the three remaining being informal, and Olßrien (LaibouH) and Seddon (National) each secured one of the other two. The returning officer, by virtue of his authority, gave his casting vote in favour of Mr Seddon. THE LYTTELTON SEAT. LABOUR CANDIDATE AGAIN UNSUCCESSFUL. CHRIISiTOHiURCH. This Day. After an anxious period of two weeks' delay in announcing the final figures, the returning officer for the Lyttelton electorate announced at 5 o'clock last evening that all tho missing votes are now accounted for, and the final figures had resulted an a tie between the Labour and Reform candidates, Messrs J. McCo'mhs and M. E. Lyons. In exercise of his authority the returning officer announced that he had recorded his casting vote in favour of Mr Lyons, and therefore that gentleman would he declared elected. The informal votes numbered 94. LABOUR PARTY TAKING ACTION. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The position of the Labour candidates in Lyttleton and Westland seats will be considered at a meeting of the National executive of the Labour Party tomorrow morning, when, in all probability it will be decided to demand a magisterial recount in both cases.
