AUCKLAND, This Day.
The Jury returned a verdict of not guilty on the charges of theft and forgery against Aubrey Leigh MMdlemiss when he was clerk at the Pukekohe Post Office. The charge concerned a deposit of £2O by a Maori which was alleged the accused had put to his own use and which it was stated had been repaid, but which statement was denied by the Maori. The Postmaster denied that the Maori had ever made any complain to him and several witnesses gave evidence as to accused's good character. " The three young men, Erne-t John Brasting, James Harold O'Brien and Gustav Hsmsen. who were sentenced last week to five years' imprisonment and declared habitual criminals for a series of burglaries, were yesterday on a charge of escaping from lawful custody hv breaking out of the cell kt the police station sentenced to 12 mondis lmprisonmen, concurrent with he sentences they are now serving.
