At the monthly meeting of the Waipa County Council on Monday, in reply to a Councillor, the clerk stated that the annual statutory meeting would clash with the Te Awamutu races on the 27th inst. Councillors: Put off the meeting! Cr. Peacocke suggested putting off the races, but the latter portion of his remarks was drowned by the opposition. The chairman: How many Councillors want to go? A voice: We all do! Finally a compromise was made whereby Councillors could attend both fixtures, for the County meeting will be held at Te Awamutu.
