TO WASH STOCKINGS
Silk stockings in different colours require to be washed separately. If hose in a variety of tones is put in the one tub no satisfactory result is possible.
Before washing, shake the stockings free of dust, and turn each inside out.. Cleanse in a lather of warm water and soap jelly, and see that the process is thorough. Rinse in warm water, and finally in cold.
If this work be incomplete the colour of the hose in nude, champagne, or other delicate tint will lack clarity and freshness.
Do not expose hose to the full force of the sun when drying. Hang in a breezy corner, and leave on the line for several hours. A too fierce light will cause the colour to fade.
