SLANDER ALLEGED
HEAVY DAMAGES CLAIMED.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Friday. An action for slander /commenced in. the Supreme Court to-ddy, wherein May Gibson, aged 23 years, single, is proceeding against Harry Ray, exbilliard saloon proprietor, claiming the sum of £IOOO as damages for alleged slander. Counsel for .plaintiff, opening the case, said taht Ray was alleged to have stated that plaintiff was unchaste, and had submitted to the performance of an illegal operatioh, involving another man in £2OO expenses for the operation and payment of an undertaker.
