WOMAN’S STRANGE DEATH
AFTER EATING STEW,
CHRISTCHURCH, Friday,
At an inquest on Maude Ellen Bourne-Webb, aged 31, a married woman, the doctor attending her was unable to give any opinion as to the cause of death, and the inquest was adjourned for a post mortem. The husband and mother of deceased stated in evidence that deceased always enjoyed good health. She became suddenly i'll after eating a few mouthfuls of stew, went to bed, woke up groaning at 5 a.m., and. died within half an hour. Both witnesses had eaten a portion of the same stew, but felt no ill effects.
