NEW AUDIT REGULATIONS. WELLINGTON, Friday. New audit regulations are gazetted as follows: If an accounting officer is requested to make a payment or accept a charge or credit which, in bis opinion, is not authorised by regulations of is otherwise incorrect, he must state his . objections in writing to the head of his department, who will forthwith report the circumstances to the pay-master-general. If any officer of the Public Service
finds that expenditure is being incurred which, in his opinion, might be reduced or checked by a change in administrative methods, or that owing to the wording of a contract or informal agreement, or for anv other reason, unnecessary expenditure is taking jua-'e, even though such expend Hu re may lie technically correct and in order, lie must draw the attention of Dm head of his Department to the matter, who shall immediately report the circumstances, with his suggestions thereon, to the paymastergeneral.
