'HAMILTON SIALE

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Hamilton, report as follows: At Hamilton on Tuesday we had a heavy yarding of cattle and an average yarding of sheep and pigs. Values for fat sheep seemed a trifle easier than last week, but in all cases a clearance was effected. Wethers made from 25s to 295, ewes from 23s to 23s 9d. hoggets 19s to £1 Is; store hoggets were keenly competed for and advanced in value, medium quality (making up to 17s, small from 14s 2d jto 15s Id; a line of f.m. ewes in lamb failed to reach the owner’s reserve art auction, but was afterwards quitted at 21s 9d. Beef was in plentiful supply, although many of the 'bullocks required finishing; values advanced considerably on recent rates, best steers reaching £lO 4s. medium weight £7 10s io £9, light to £6 2s; fat cows were in jvery keen demand, the best making j£7 17s, medium weights £3 12s 6d to £4 10s; steers in forward condition were also sought after, making from £4 10s to £5 ‘ss; a large number of grown steers in store condition were {yarded, these did not meet with a very cordial reception under the hamper, but all were cleared by private .treaty afterwards; the best made from £3 l ! 2s 6d to £4 ss, smaller £2 15s to £3 ss; a very nice line of 150 2-year steers was passed in, bidding on the class being below the standard lately ruling; other small lots 2-year steers made £llls to £2 13s. Empty heifers were penned in large numbers, being in excess of demand; prices were again easier, 2-year making to £3 10s, yearlings from £2 7s to £2 15s. Only a few fat pigs were yarded, but a full yarding of stores was offered; prices all round were easier than those reported last week; medium to heavy baconers made £2 19s to £3 2s, good porkers to light baconers £2 10s to £2 ISs. medium porkers £2 2s to £2 Bs, light and unfinished 28s to 38s, slips (18s to 255, small and poor 8s to 11s, weaners to 15s.
