SHEARERS & SHED HANDS.
CONFERENCE ARRANGED. An industiral dispute is now pending affecting the shearers and shed hands of New Zealand. The New Zealand Sheep Owners' Federation has written to the New Zealand Workers' Union, of which the shearers are members, asking that- a Dominion conference be arranged with a view to reaching an agreement for a new award for shearers and shed hands. It is suggested that the conference be held at as early a date as possible. '< , The secretary of the New Zealand Workers' Union replied stating that he was in favour of a conference, and that he will place the whole question before the different shearers' unions. It is likely that the conference will be held in Wellington in June.
