“ THE GREATEST LOVE.” Vera Gordon, the star in the >Selznick attraction, “ The Greatest Love,” to be presented at the Empire Theatre on Tuesday evening, has probably had the most sensational rise of any star in photo-plays. . From Obscurity she has just become a star through her magnificent work as “Mamma Kantor,” the mother of “Humoresque,” and it is claimed that her role of Mrs Latini, in “ The Greatest Love,” is an even more notable characterisation. For years Miss Gordon in the various stopk companies, those excellent training schools in which so many of our great stars acquired their first rudiments of stage craft, and ©he later became famous in various ro'les, her work bringing her the highest commendation from press and public.

“THE JOYOUS TROUBLEMAKER'S.”

William Farnum’s latest pic'turer, presented by William Fox, which will be seen at the Empire Theatre on Wednesday 'evening, is called “ The Joyous Trouble-Makers,” and the attractive title promises more than a glimpse of the famous Farnum smile. The story is of a youth who finds gold where Nature has hidden it for ages. Farnum appears first as the care-free youth spending golden hours on a rock in the sunshine, trying to 1 coax fish to swallow a hook. But he finds more than fish in the water —'and there are goiden .hotirs indeed. There is pathos, and even tears, in the story, as well as well as smiles, despite the title.
