WAIHI MINE BALLOT.

MAJORITY FAVOUR NIGHT SHIFT

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WAIHI, Friday.

Complete returns in connection with the ballot taken under the auspices of the Waihi Miners' Union on the question of reintroduction of the night shift, conslequent upon the • closing down of the Grand Junction battery, show that 203 votes were cast in favour of the proposal, and 114 against, giving a majority of 89. The Mayor (Mr Donaldson) expects to leave Waihi to-morrow to interview the Minister of Public Works .relative to the employment on the Waihi-Tauranga section of the East Coast railway, of men who cannot procure work here. The Auckland Railway League has arranged the interview, and will support Mr Donaldson. The Minister will meet the deputation on Saturday.
