(Resident Agent.) In connection with the Marakopa electric power scheme a meeting of the locally-appointed committee was held at Te Kuiti (the Mayor presiding) to discuss a report by Messrs Hay and Vickerman. Messrs F. Phillips and H. G. Corbett were present. On the motion of Mr G. P. Finlay, it was resolved that Mr Phillips, be instructed to interview the Minister of Public Works with a view to ascertaining' (a) whether the Department will purchase any, and if so, how much of the surplus power which may be generated at Marakopa; (b) what price the Department would pay for power (c) what guaranteed quantum of power the Department would require if it were to become a purchaser; (d) the terms generally, including period of purchase of any such arrangement It is rumoured that at the next sitting of the Magistrate’s Court there will be a 'long list of cases brought by the Town 'Board in respect to arrears of rates.

The takings at the floral fete were £IBO, the expenses being about £6O. In these days of stringency this is a most gratifying result.

During the week we 'have had very wet weather, consequently there is an abundance of feed, and the return of butter-fat at the butter factory is keeping well up to that of the flush of the season. The output of butter at the factory is about 45 tons a week. In reply to “ Inquirer ” as to whether the scheme for financing the installation of necessary wires and motors for power on farms, as suggested by the Te Awamutu Power Board, will obtain in the Otorohanga area if it joins, we may say that the funds for such a scheme will be included in our loan proposals for the district. . There was only a medium entry of stock at the Otorohanga sale yesterday, but prices in regard to sheep showed a great improvement, store wethers fetching up to 19s. Lambs brought 13s 6d, but there was not much improvement in cattle. That valuable property at the corner of Tuhoro and Maniapoto Streets, at present owned and occupied by Mr E. Doherty, has changed hands. Mr G. Eassey being the purchaser. FLORAL FETE.
