DAIRYMEN’S TEST CASE.
COMPULSORY SHAREHOLDERS.

A case of great interest to co-opera-tive dairy companies was argued before Mr Mowlem, S.M., to-day. Stuart Evan McDonald sued the Normanby Dairy Company for £6 15s, the amount deducted (from his milk payment for additional shares issued to him without his consent under amended articles whereby the ratio of shares 'held to butter-fat supplied was changed from one share for 83 1-3 lbs of butter-fat to one for 60 lbs of butter-fat. Counsel for plaintiff held the company had not power to amend the articles in any direction increasing 'liability of a shareholder without his consent. The case was argued at great length, and decision was reserved.
