THE STOCK MARKET.

PEDIGREE AND JERSEY SALE.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctio 1eering Co. Ltd., Hamilton report:— On Thursday, June 2, at the Homestead, Pukeroro, Cambridge, on behalf of Mr W. J. Chynoweth, we held a sale of his surplus stock and on the same occasion disposed .of the surplus of Mr C. A. Care. The offering attracted visitors from all districts throughout Waikato with the addition of many from North Auckland and Bay of Plenty, Although the values: for grade cattle did not quite reach the vendors expectations, satisfaction was expressed at the reception accorded the pedigree animals. Whilst it is not unreasonable to exlpeet .thajt dairy cattle will suffer somewhat this season from the general at present depression affecting stock, there seems every reason to believe that its influence will not very seriously interfere with the advancement of this popular breed. m

Mr Care's draft was the first offered 1 and with one exception all lots were cleared under the hammer. The two year old" heifer Rata's Princess Viola (10,056) topped* the list at 90gns. the purchaser being Mr J. M. Dean, Paeroa. This animal was bred by the vendor and won first prize at Waikato Central Show, 1920. Other populai lots were Queen's Glory Lass (10,055) 60gns. to Mr. R. Harper, Otorohanga, Greenfield's Kate (3,700) 63gns.; Mr J: F. Brown, Whangarei. The three bull calves were offered and sold from 20gns to 33gns. The lauer price being paid by Mr J. Mortensen, Pio Pio, for May Sweet's Swan (9,561). Grade cows and heifers from this' vendor realised from 16 to 26gns. . In Mr Chynoweth's offering a complete clearance was not effected, a number of lots, both pedigree aha grade being passed in. The top price in the female classes 52gns was-pa'd by Mr Brown, Whangarei, for the cow Tonga Maid of Sedgebrook (3,578). 40gns. was paid by the same purchaser for the cow Crystal (1,988) an importation from Australia with the semi-official record of 404.93 lbs fat. Amongst the males Magnet's Glory (6,870), ,sire Maiden's Glory Lad (Imp.) and tracing back through good butterfat lines realised 78gns and fell to Mr F. G. Gunson, Whangarei. Marshland's Distinction (8,023) was purchased at 42|gn. by Mr T. Higginson, Te Puke. Grade cows from this vendor sold to 31gns. grade heifers 2-year to 23gns. A number of animals were disposed of privately after the sale had concluded.
