THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

TE AWAMUTU AFFAIRS. The last meeting of the Te Awamutu School Committee was presided over by Mr C. R BattsOn, chairman. There were also present: Rev. Henderson, Messrs. Clarke, Paull, Fawcett, Swain and Gilbert. Mr Spenceley Walker (headmaster) also attended, i p The resignation of Mr G. Salter, who for some years has been secretary to the committee,- was placed before v the meeting and was formally accepted. The committee recorded a vote of thanks and appreciation for the services rendered. Mr H. J. Gillmore was elected, to fill the vacancy caused by»Mr Salter's resignation. Dealing with school affairs it was decided to request ' the Auckland Board to instal a hot water service iii the head teacher's residence. The Board is also* to be urged to see that the contractor-for the new school buildings is kept supplied with materials so that the building may be made ready for occupation without delay. A further request is to be made to the Board to see that the capitation money is paid.as soon as it is due. The headmaster reported having held a parent's day at the school. It was largely attended and was a great success. A parent's day for the children in Standards I and 11. will be held shortly when all parents of scholars in the classes named will be invited to be present.
