(District Representative.) . OHAUPO TOWN BOARD. Mr E. J. Edwards, presided over the meeting of the Ohaupo Town ‘Board . held on Friday evening. There were also present: Messrs. A. Turnwald, E. H. Gillett, J. 0. Death and N. J. Finlay. With reference to the appointment of an engineer to the Board, Mr S. B. Sims, C.E., of Hamilton,- at the request of the Board wrote agreeing to act when required. .g A letter was received from Messrs, f; Mac Diarmid, Mears and Gray, solici- A tors on behalf of the Farmers Co- , operative Auctioneering Qo., • enquir-- • ing if the Board had taken any steps to have the site of the proposed Town Hall surveyed,, and as to who would act for the Board.—lt was decided to engage the services of Mr Sims as surveyor, and the clerk was directed to reply accordingly. A circular letter was read from the Mines Department, Wellington, stating that, with the view of establishing lime-crushing plants throughout the Dominion, a committee of technical officers was being appointed to consider the question.- Information was sought as to any lime quarries in the district. , ' The clerk reported -that advicd had been received from the Treasury stating the sum of £35 11/4 had been paid to the credit of the Board’s account. Frequent complaints having been made of the damage done by straying horses, the Board decided to appoint a ranger ,who would have power to seize all straying animals. Having regard to the future, the chairman said that representation had been made to him to secure a suitable ground for recreation purposes. After some discussion the chairman (Mr Edwards) and Mr A. were deputed to make enquiries and to report at a later meeting. • ‘ Representations having been made by the Pukekura Road Board for the removal of a sandhill near Mr A. Karl’s property, it was decided to agree to this, subject to tlie satisfaction of Mr A. Karl. The clerk was directed to communicate with the Road Board on the subject.
