DEFENCE STAFF CORPS.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The _ Defence Department has decided to offer a few vacancies annual- ' ly in the Staff Corps to candidates from the permanent staff by competitive examination. This examination will be similar in principle to ™ that of the candidates from Duntroon, for it is recognised that members of the Staff Corps must possess a high educational standard if they are to carry out their duties successfully. The number of vacancies will be small, but sufficient to give the most efficient and best educated sergeantmajors an opportunity of entering the corps without passing through Duntroon College. The first examination for entrance to the Staff Corps will be held towards the end of this month.
