HAMILTON REGATTA.

ANNIVERSARY DAY EVENTS Record rowing ' entries have been received for the Hamilton Regatta, to he held on January 29, as many aa ten crews being entered in one race. The sum of £lll is to be given away in prize money for rowing races, of which the principal is the Senior Challenge Fours (£45 and Challenge Cup), in which six members of the famous New Zealand eights which were very successful in Europe, will be competing. D. C. Hadfield, who was also very successful in Single sculling in Europe, winning the Diamond Sculls (Amateur Championship of Europe) and other races will compete in the Single Sculls Handicap race. A Tug-o-war for teams of six en prize £5, will be very interesting, while swimming races also take a place in the programme.

The weather was fine for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting. There was a large attendance, and the course was in good order. Results: — Mungaroa Welter : Railand 1, Parorangi 2, Chaeronia 3. Won by a short head. Time, 1.29 3-5. Fitzherbert Handicap : Right and lengtbLeft 1, Gasbag 2, Demand 3. Won by half a length, a head separating second and third. Scratched . Pure Laziness. Time 60 3-5. January Welter : Brockenfield 1, Nightraider 2, Old Gold 3. Won by half a length. Scratched: Bonnetter and Burrangong. Time, 1.41. Kelburn Plate: Moorfowl 1, Spanner 2, Astinome 3. Scratched: Inah, Saima, Blackmail. Silver Link when leading threw the rider, McFlynn. Won by two lengths. Time, 4 1.35. Racing Club Handicap: Amythas 1, Oratress 2, Snub 3. Scratched: Surveyor, Kilrush, Paddington Green. Won by a length, two and a half lengths' separating second and third. Time 2.21.

Douro Cup: Trespass 1, Active 2, Brealis 3. All started. Won by a length and a-half. Time 1.41 3-5. Metropolitan Handicap: Michaela 1, Surveyor 2, Bopeep 3. Scratched: Spanner, Hymestra, Royal Stag, Beadle. Won by half a length.
