ENTERTAINMENTS.
PREMIER PICTURES,
A large and appreciative audience were present at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, when a first-class ’programme was shown. The star film was capitally screened, and the supporting pictures were well received.
On Tuesday next a picture production of immense educational value, entitled “Napoleon from His Coronation to St. Helena,” will be screened. In it is depicted the whole of the little corporal’s career from the coronation to the last days at St. Helena. Deluded in the film are graphic sketches of most of the historymaking episodes with which the whole world is familiar. Amongst the battles depicted is that of Austerlitz, in which Napoleon captured 192 Austrian standards, 400 guns, and 2Q,OQQ prisoners. The picture shows the deportation to and ends with the death of Napoleon at St. Helena, where he breathed his last, surrounded by those of the faithful followers who had accompanied him into exile.
“ PIRONGIA PICKLES.”
A grand variety entertainment is to be given by the “ Pirongia Pickles ” on Friday, August 7th, at the Pirongia Hall, The company include sixteen performers, while the “pickles” number seven. No less than twenty items will be given during the evening, and include songs, choruses, dances, and other musical items. The entertainment is to be given in aid of the Church of England funds, and judging by the excellent programme, there should be a record attendance. There will be supper aKd a dance to follow.
