The monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday, Mr Day being absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The chairman reported that he had seen Mr Jennings re trees on his property overhanging the road, and the matter would be attended to. The chairman had also seen Messrs Wallace and Teasdale re the water supply, and the information desired will be forwarded at an early date. It was decided to call a public meeting in connection with the water supplv, and to advertise it in the WaiPa POST, the meeting to. be

held in the Town Hal! on August I2tb.

.A letter was received from Mr Young, M.P., re the post office buildings. Mr Young stated that the necessary repairs and renovations were ‘already authorized. The idea of a new building could not be entertained at present. The old building will only last for three or four years, and then there will be a possibility of a new one.

Tenders were to be called in 14 days for clearing the ground and pruning trees on Lot 402. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr McCallum re a number of unregistered dogs at present running about the roads. It was decided to write to Mr McGhie re a bad hole in the road near the Alpha Hotel, with a view of getting a load of metal put there. Re heating . water in supper room. It was proposed that, a building be put up, all iron, with concrete floor, and boiler set in brick ; also, to alter the gallery and procure more seats for the hall. It was decided to write to Mr Warren, of Hamilton, and get him to come up and give an estimate for the work. Mr T. Gibson was engaged as caretaker of the Town Hall. A vote of. thanks was passed to Mr W. Thomson, senr., for the work he had done in the past, and a letter of sympathy sent to him on account of his recent misfortune in losing his leg. It was decided to write to the Minister of Public Works asking that if they take the water from Te Awamutu for the Mental hospital, that he will bring itSthrough Kihikihi.J It was decided to put gravel in front of the post office.

It was also decided to write, to the chairman of the Waipa County Council asking if we may have a load of sand from the Puniu bridge.

There was a good attendance at the lecture entitled “ Rome and Pompeii” given by the Rev. Beattie, of Te Kuiti, in the Town Hall on Tuesday. The lecture, besides being instructive was excellently delivered, and greatly appreciated. During the evening musical items were given by the Misses McCardle (2) and Montefiore. Mr J. M. Stewart sang “ My Ain Folk ” in splendid style. Miss Cullen acted as accompanist.

Mr E. Kerr, of Te Kuiti, is about to take over the Star Hotel, and we extend to him a hearty welcome.

I regret to learn that Mr W. Thomson, senr., who is in the Waikato hospital has had to have his leg amputated above the knee. Mr Thomson .is progressing favourably.
