RAILWAY CONNECTIONS.

A general meeting of those interested in a scheme to provide railway connections between Kawhia and Raglan with the Main Trunk railway at Frankton Junction was held at Hamilton yesterday, when the proposals were further considered.

Mr F. E. Smith (Hamilton) presided, and there were also present Messrs Gwynne (Hamilton Chamber of Commerce), M. Darke (Hamilton), Pastor Clarke (Waikato Co-Operative Dairy Co.), F. B. Jolly (Mayor of Frankton), Dr Sanders (Frankton), Dr Moore and J. Rawlinson (Raglan Chamber of Commerce), Chase and Scott (Kawhia Chamber of Commerce), and O. E. Farrar (surveyor). Apologies for nonattendance were received from the Hon. J. Fisher, Messrs A. E. Manning, Allen, Gould, and Hetherington.

By the proposal this railway is, to be financed and erected by private.enterprise, and a vigorous canvas is to be made in tNf districts concerned to sq)£cit the necessary support angr to create a general interest Lanhe project. At the of yesterday’s meeting a central committee was set up as follows : —Messrs F. E. Smith, M. Darke, F. B. Jolly, J. S. Bond, and Pastor Clark. Sub-committees (with power to add) were appointed as follow : Kawhia, Messrs Chase and Scott; Raglan, Dr Moore and Messrs Rawlinson and Langley ; Waitetuna, Messrs Jeffries and Cooper; Karamu, Messrs Bruce, Steele, E. J. Smith and Moroney ; Tuhikaramea, Messrs Binney and S. Reed; Te Uku, Messrs Ralfe, Wallace and Husband.
