AN INTERESTING DISCOVERY.
The sands in the deserts of Chines* Turkestan have buried a vast civilisa tion that was forgotten for centuries Tho dry sand preserved intact numbers of manuscripts in an unknown language written in unknown charm ters. These M. Gauthiot, a youn; Frenchman, has managed to deciphei by tho fortunate rinding of fragments that had notes in other known languages. This discovery, it is expected. will lead to the world gaining a much further knowledgo of the lost country, Sogdiana, and its people, mentioned by Strabo and Heradotus.
