PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL.
TO THE EDITOR. Slß,—The following is an extract from the Herald of July nth : "'Puzzled Spectator' writes to say that he understands that men who have played the Northern Union game have been re-instated in the Waikato, and are taking part in Rugby Union games. He asks several questions, and for his and other country supporters' information it is as well to state that the New Zealand Rugby Union alone has the right to make re-instatements. In the Rugby rules, as to professionalism, section 2 of sub-section H states that it is an act of professionalism to knowingly play with or against any expelled or suspended player or club, and for an offence under this sub-section an individual shall be expelled from all English clubs playing Rugby Union football. The New Zealand Rugby Union will not re-instate Rugby Union players who have taken part in Northern Union competitions." Now, Sir, I understand that in the match Ohaupo v. United the Ohaupo team was playing ten men who have played the Northern Union game. I would like to be enlightened by some of|your Rugby supporters as to what is the position of this team, its opponents, the Waipa Union, and all the officials concerned.—l am, etc., Joseph Amiel. Ohaupo, July 13th, 1914-
