LADIES’ MATCH. The Te Awamutu and Kihikihi teams met at Bockett’s paddock on Wednesday afternoon, and a very good game was witnessed. Kihikihi had if anything the best of the game, and were on several occasions in their opponents’ circle, but their shooting powers were decidedly weak, and they missed several excellent chances. During the second half Miss O’Brien made a splendid run and took the ball to the .circle, but missed the net in trying to goal. Kihikihi were doing a lot of attacking, but were repulsed time after time. The game ended without any score on either side. For Kihikihi Misses Montifiore, Hendrickson (2), 1 Walker (2), and D. Savage-played well, while for Te Awamutu Mrs Bathurst, Misses Verner (2), Hutt, O’Brien, Dodd, and D. Olphert were conspicudus. Mr C. Davis acted as referee. MEN’S TRIAL MATCH. In order that the final selection should be made for the team to take part in the competition for the White Horse Cup in Auckland this month, a practice match was , held on Wednesday at Bockett’s paddock. An A team was selected ,to play a team of all-comers. The superiority of the A team (reds) was at once shown, and they opened with an attack, Gordon making a good run down the line, and beating Edwards, sent a pass in to Johnstone, who endeavoured to net. The ball, however, rose over the top of the net. From the bully Edwards was conspicuous in defence. By combined play the reds again attacked, and Johns missed badly on two occasions. The defence of the all-comers (blues) was being sorely tried, and for a time they were kept busy. They at length broke away, but F. North stopped well. The f blues returned to their opponents’ territory, Bridle centring \to Ironsides. The ' latter, however, missed a good opportunity. The blues were defending well. Johns and Allright between them endeavoured tobeat Spears, the goalkeeper, but the latter kept them out. As the result of combined play between Gordon, Johns and Johnstone, the latter beat Spears with a good shot. The blues replied with a good rally, in which Andrew, L. Davis and Bridle took a hand. L. Davis’ shot, unfortunately, .rose over the net. The blues again charged, and Jephson, missing badly, gave L. Davis another chance, but that player, forgetting he was in the circle, hit hard to the wing, the ball going over the line. From bully-off blues again came away, but Douglas proved very safe and cleared.

A change was now made in the teams by the selector. On resuming the reds at once became aggressive, and Spear was obliged to concede'a corner. Edwards cleared with a good hit. Frequent onslaughts by the reds were repulsed, Edwards showing good defence- As the result of a passing rush Johns was successful in scoring. Keeping up the pressure the reds attacked, and L. North added another goal for his'side.

A further change was made in the teams, which strengthened the reds. They at once took charge but Edwards proved the stumbling block, and they found his defence hard to pierce. Gordon, Johnstone, and Johns missed the net. Jephson and L. Davis were putting in some good work for their side. From a corner hit Solomon cleared to half-way, but fhe reds were soon back, and a penaltv corner was conceded by blues,'as the result of which Gordon found the net. After a number of attempts by Johns he at length succeeded in locating the net. Towards the close of the game L'JNorth again scored. Reds were pressing towards the finish, and the game ended in favour of the A team by 6 goals to nil.
