EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE.

The euchre party and dance held under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Tennis Club took place in the Town Hall on Wednesday evening. Despite unfavourable weather conditions there, was a large attendance, t and a thoroughly enjoyable time 'was spent. The committee are to be congratulated on the manner in which the arrangements were carried out, the secretary, Mr W. Johns, being largely responsible for the success of the evening. Fully twenty - one tables were occupied. Mrs F. Gibson was successful in winning the ladies' prize, presented by Mrs H. Y. Collins, while Messrs Collins and Newton tied for the gentlemen's prize. In the play-off the latter was successful. The consolation prizes fell to Miss Glasson and Mrs Cruickshank, the former taking the gentlemen's part at the tables. The following prizes won during the .season by the members of the tennis club were then presented by Mrs E. I. Miller tribadies' Singles Championship (rose bowl, presented by Mrs J. Jackson)—Miss L. Bond. Men's Championship Cup (presented by Mr J. Jackson)—Mr W.Johns. MrLadies' Junior Championship Rr F. D. Wood's trophy, copper spirit kettle)—Miss McDonald. Ladies' Handicap SinglesMiss Irvine. Men's Handicap Singles—Mr It North. Combined Handicap DoublesMiss K. McGovern and Dr Henderson. After the prizes had been presented an adjournment was made to the supper room, where an excellent repast had been provided by the ladies. The hall was then cleared for dancing, about fifty couples taking part, the dancers appearing to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Mr G. Dalton supplied excellent music, while Mrs Gibson played extras.
