USE TO BE MftDEOF TERRITORIALS ALSO RETURNED SOLDIERS. WELLINGTON, This day. Measures for the expansion of New Zealand’s home defences were announced by the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, last night. These will include fuller and more intensive training of the Territorials and Class 11 (returned soldiers) of the National Reserve. It is proposed to clothe, arm and equip these units without delay, and thus enable them to take their full share in the defence system of the Dominion. It will he their special duty to supplement the Territorial fortress battalions and to provide for the defence of the secondary ports. The scheme outlined hv Mr Fraser involves three months’ intensive training for the whole of the Territorial Force in the Dominion.
