Mr W. Tucker, of Clive, has been appointed organiser for the National Party in the Napier electorate. At Friday’s meetig of the H.B. Education Board Mr G. A. Maddison was re-elected chairman and Mr J. AVauchope deputy chairman. The Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, Prime Minister, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited on Saturday on a “goodwill” tour of the north.

Miss L. Collins has been chosen as captain and Miss M. Smales as vicecaptain of the Central Hawke’s Bay basketball team to visit Timaru. Mr W. L. Dunn, secretary to the H.B. Education Board, has, at the special request of the Minister of Education, returned to AVellington to assist in finalising the new grading system having for its objective the improvement of the conditions under which country teachers work. The Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board on Friday appointed Messrs A. C. Russell (chairman) and G. E. Fowler (secretary-manager) delegates to attend the annual conference of the Electric Power Board and Supply Authorities’ Association, to be held at AA r ellington on September 12th, 13th, and 14th. The engineer (Mr G. L. Beer) was also granted permission to attend the conference.
