PATANGATA PLOUGHING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING ALTERATIONS TO PROGRAMME. Several important alterations in the ploughing events of the Patangata and District Ploughing Club’s annual matches were made at the annual meeting, at which the president, Mr E. Kittow, presided. There was an attendance of 20 members. The report and balance-sheet were adopted without comment, and the retiring officers were all re-elected, votes of thanks being passed to the president, secretary, committee and stewards. It was decided to offer a points prize of £5, open to all competitors, in Class A who did not secure a placing in the judge’s award. This is to encourage those who have been competing in Class B to go a step higher and thus even up the number of competitors. In Class B no combined plough will be allowed in future, and only cast iron plough shares. A new class was added, for the best shepherd’s turn-out, horse and two dogs, to be the bona fide property of the competitor. Thursday, July 14th, was decided upon as the date for the match. The selection of the site was left in abeyance, and offers of suitable locations are invited by the committee.
