BRIDAL PARTIES
FOR MISS MARJORIE MALCOLM. Prior to her marriage to Mr Rupert SowTy, of Whangarei, Miss Marjorie Malcolm has been the guest at two social functions. On Wednesday evening last fier many friends gathered in the Ruataniwha Memorial Hall to wish her luck and happiness. To bhow their appreciation of her willingness to help in everything for the good of the district, the older residents presented her with a beautiful chiming clock, while from the younger people she received an array of kitchen articles for her future home. Mr G. Kittow made the presentation and spoke in eulogistic terms of the high esteem in which the guest of the 'evening was held. Mr A. Malcolm responded on his sister’s behalf. Both competitions held during the evening were won by Miss Malcolm. On Friday evening Mr and Mrs G. H. Ki How's home was the scene of another happy gathering, when Mrs Kittow had arranged a gift evening and invited about forty of Miss Malcolm’s friends. Cards and competitions passed the evening, both honors again going to the guest. After supper Mr U. Gray, on behalf of those present, asked the bride-elect to open her parcels, which revealed a good collection of useful gifts. Miss Malcolm suitably responded.
