WAIPAWA v. MARAKEKE. During the week-end a team from the Waipawa Golf Club paid a visit to the Marakeke links and engaged in a match with the Waipukurau Club, the latter winning by 154 to 2J. A number of games, however, provided very close finishes. Results were as under: — FOUR-BALL. 8. Peacock and Lumsden heal A. Rathbone and W. Minogiie. B. Peacock and T. Staines heat Shackelford and F. Witherow. Bradley and G. Speedy beat C. Rathbone and R. Witherow. Clarkson and Boyce lost to Bryant and Edwards. Taylor and L. Staines heat Rust and Woods. Wallace and Urwin beat Knobloeh and Dwight. TWO-BALL. Peacock beat A. Rathbone. Lumsden beat Minogue. Peacock beat Shackelford. T. Staines beat F. Witherow. Bradley heat C. Rathbone. Speedy heat R. Witherow, Clarkson lost (o Bryant. Boyce beat Edwards. Taylor beat Rust. L. Staines beat Woods. Wallace beat Knobloeh. Urwin halved with Dwight, Results: —Four-ball: Waipukurau 5 wins, Waipawa 1 win. Two-ball: Waipukurau 101 wins, Waipawa 14 wins. NAPIER CHAMPIONSHIP. KAPI TAREHA’S EIGHTH WIN. In the final of the Napier Golf Club ’s championship, played at Waiobiki on Friday, Kapi Tarelia defeated Fryer by (i up and 5 to play, thus registering his eighth win in this event. He finished (lie morning round of 18 holes 6 up, and continuing to play steadily in the afternoon gave his opponent no opportunity of making up the leeway.
